Our Church Council met Monday evening with the main purpose of discussing the continuing COVID pandemic and our Sunday morning services. As you know, UV lights were installed in the sanctuary in late March of last year. These effectively sanitize all surfaces in the sanctuary and are cycled on between each service and after any functions held in the sanctuary. We’ve also implemented a mask and temperature check policy, offer hand sanitizer dispensers throughout the building, limit attendance and practice social distancing. All these combined have kept those attending from getting the virus here or spreading it to anyone attending services. In December, Council voted to add additional protection to rest of the building and Air Scrubbers were installed in our heat/air systems. This system uses UV lights, also, as well as ozone equipment that literally “scrub” the air as it circulates throughout the entire building. Our custodian also uses disinfecting cleaners regularly throughout the week to wipe down frequently touched surfaces.
We are doing everything we can to continue to keep our Church Family as safe as possible while still allowing each of you to choose how you want to worship. We close when the risk seems high and offer livestream services each Sunday on YouTube to those of you that are not ready to be here. We will continue to offer that opportunity to all.
The decision was made Monday evening to begin opening again for in-person worship as well for those that are comfortable and choose to be here. The State DHHR website updates the number of active COVID cases for each County on a daily basis (Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) (wv.gov) and we will review this information each Saturday morning. IF our county is ORANGE or RED, our services will be LIVESTREAM ONLY with no congregation in the building. Once Harrison County enters GOLD, YELLOW or GREEN, we will once again open our doors for those that would like to attend IN-PERSON WORSHIP. We will post to our Social Media accounts, FaceBook and Twitter, as well as send emails as to whether we are open or not. But you can also refer to the map and know what our plan will be.
We miss seeing each of you but appreciate all who continue to pray for and support Duff Street Church and the ministries we hold dear. As always, if you have questions please contact the Church Office. Be Blessed!
After prayerful consideration and conversations, Services have been resumed for in-person services On Sundays – 8:45am Contemporary Service & 11am Traditional Service.
We do have specific guidelines we will ask you to respectfully follow :
•If you do not feel well, please stay home. We will continue to livestream our services on YouTube.
•Please enter ONLY through the main sanctuary doors at the corner of Duff & Baker Avenue.
•Upon entering, an usher will direct you to appropriate seating based on the approved social distancing requirements we will be following. Households will be seated together.
•Masks will be required while inside our Church Building, including children. We do have a limited number of masks available if you need one.
•We will celebrate the Lord through music but please refrain from singing along.
•After the service, you will be directed out of the sanctuary through the side entrances only. Please do not linger in the building as we will need time to sanitize the building between services. UV Lights (similar to those used in hospitals) will be used.
•There will be NO breakfast or coffee served.
We love you all and wish our entire congregation to remain healthy, so please help us do that! If you have questions, please feel free to contact Pastor Mark or Michelle. ~Blessings
